ROLL up, roll up! Youngsters at West Winch primary school had the time of their lives when they let their hair down for a special circus workshop.

Around 170 children, aged from five and 11, had fun dressing up in circus costumes for the day which was the highlight of a week looking at circuses and what they involve.

Montana Events, based in the Midlands, lead the workshop in which the youngsters could have a go at circus skills.

Head teacher Mark Oldridge said the pupils had had a chance to try out such skills as plate twirling and juggling and had really enjoyed themselves.

Mr Oldridge told the Lynn News the workshop was part of a series of events to enrich and develop the curriculum at the school. “We had a Time Team dig in October and we do have a circus visit West Winch,” he said.

The School Council played a major part in organisation for the day and there was also a special circus-themed lunch.

“It was really about boosting self-confidence and self-esteem. It gave everybody the chance to shine, ” said Mr Oldridge.
